In today’s business devotion, I’d like to share The Four types of Christians in the workplace by Ed Silvoso from his insightful book – Anointed for Business.
“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:18)
The following four categories present an invaluable means for self-assessment:
1. The Christian marketplace minister who is simply trying to survive.
2. The Christian marketplace minister who is living by Christian principles.
3. The Christian marketplace minister who is living by the power of the Holy Spirit.
4. The Christian marketplace minister who is transforming his workplace for Christ.
Category #1: The Christian marketplace ministers who are simply trying to survive, have no zeal for integrating their faith at work. They have not experienced the Power or Presence of God in their work lives. They usually compartmentalize their faith life from their work life. They lack purpose and meaning, as a consequence they have little direction.
Category #2: The second type of Christian marketplace minister includes those who are living by Christian principles. Who participate in programmes, read books with guaranteed formulas to help such as, “get rich now”, “lose weight” or “improve your marriage.” These programmes’ teachings are beneficial, however, it is important to recognize the root of this type of teaching comes largely from a Grecian -system for attaining ‘knowledge’ as compared to the Hebraic model of ‘experiential’ learning.
Category #3: The third type of Christian marketplace ministers comprises those who are living by the power of the Holy Spirit, understands the importance of prayer and the study of the Word of God, as well as obedience. They have experienced the power of God’s presence, but it stays with them!
Category #4: The Christian marketplace ministers who are living by the power of the Holy Spirit, who desire change not only in their hearts, but transformation in their workplace for God.
Christians who passionately seek the manifestation of God’s kingdom on Sundays and beyond will be able to realise this transformation in their workplaces.
When the Kingdom of God is demonstrated on Earth, it can transform the workplace and nations!
Start asking God to help you see how to transform your workplace today.
